Experience the Oueslati Zit'Tour in Kairouan Differently
Oueslati Zit’Tour is a thematic route dedicated to Oueslati olive oil, an iconic product of the Kairouan region and a strong symbol of local identity. Produced from olive trees growing in the Oueslat mountains as well as those cultivated in the delegations of Oueslatia, El Ala, Haffouz, and Aïn Jloula, this olive oil is renowned for its unique taste characteristics and is among the flagship products highlighted within Tunisia’s national strategy for the valorization and promotion of local terroir products. The objective of this route is to invite visitors to discover the know-how and services related to Oueslati olive oil through immersive experiences combining gastronomy, heritage, agriculture, craftsmanship, and tourism. Oueslati Zit’Tour is the result of a public–private collaborative partnership between the Festival local Aïn Jloula and regional institutions under the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Tourism. This innovative territorial marketing approach aims to promote the region’s heritage by showcasing Oueslati olive oil through a variety of immersive activities designed to enrich the visitor experience. This initiative is supported by the Projet d’Accès aux Marchés des Produits Agroalimentaires et de Terroir (PAMPAT), implemented by the Organisation des Nations Unies pour le Développement Industriel (UNIDO) and funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
